Emily Fares Ibrahim Collection, 1949-2013
Emily Fares Ibrahim (1914–2011) was a Lebanese writer, poet, feminist, and pioneering political figure. She became the first woman to run for parliamentary elections in Lebanon and was a prominent leader within the Lebanese Social Movement. Throughout her career, she championed women’s rights and social justice, heading both the National Mobilization Committee, established in 1982, and the National Council of Women. Her collection documents her life and activism, serving as a valuable resource for researchers interested in gender studies, women’s political participation, and social reform in Lebanon.
