Women of the Pen

Women transformed literature and the press, with figures like May Ziadeh using poetry, essays, lectures, and magazines to spark intellectual debate, promote social reform, and encourage women’s public engagement. Journalists such as ʻAfifah Sa‘b and Labibah Hashim amplified the voices of women. Their writings were not just words on paper, they were calls to action, inspiring cultural renewal and broader societal change.
