Jirji Zaydan, (1861-1914), one of the pillars of Al-Nahda in the Arab World, a prolific Lebanese novelist, journalist, editor, publisher and teacher, most noted for his creation of the magazine Al-Hilal and prolific writing on Arab and Islamic history., Born in Beirut, joined the Syrian Protestant College Medical School for a few years to leave it in 1882 following the Edwin Lewis issue. Zaydan moved to Cairo where he established “Dar al Hilal" publishing house in 1892. The collection includes Jirji Zaydan’s correspondence, notebooks, manuscripts and English translation of his Novel “the Virgin of Koreish”.
جُرجي زيدان (1861-1914)، أحد ركائز النهضة العربية، روائي وصحفي ومحرر ومعلم لبناني غزير الإنتاج، اشتهر بتأسيس مجلة "الهلال" وكتاباته الغزيرة حول التاريخ العربي والإسلامي. وُلد في بيروت والتحق بكلية الطب في الكلية السورية الإنجيلية (الجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت لاحقًا) لبضع سنوات، قبل أن يتركها عام 1882 إثر قضية الأستاذ إدوين لويس. انتقل زيدان إلى القاهرة حيث أسس "دار الهلال" للنشر عام 1892. تشمل مجموعته بالإضافة الى مؤلفاته موادا أرشيفية منها مراسلات زيدان، دفاتره الشخصية، مخطوطاته، والترجمة الإنجليزية لروايته "عذراء قريش ".
