Dr. Post’s Surgical Skill

Dr. Post’s reputation as an exceptional surgeon was well earned. On one occasion, when his daughter developed a life-threatening kidney infection, and her mother was away at the market, he personally performed the operation himself—successfully removing the kidney and saving her life.

Dr. Post vs. the Unpaid Bill

Dr. Van Dyck was remembered for his compassion toward the poor, while Dr. George E. Post was known for his confidence and fairness. A well-known story recounts how Post treated a man with a deformed jaw who refused to pay. With a witty remark, he made the man laugh so hard that his jaw slipped back into deformity, prompting him to pay before Post fixed it again. Post’s saying, “Give the nahassah before the Majidi” (“Pay the small coin before the large one”), became a proverb among his patients, reflecting his insistence on honesty and full payment.
