Bridging Cultures
The American University of Beirut has long served as a crossroads for cultural exchange, fostering strong connections between Lebanon and Latin America. Through collaborative programs with AUB, these ties have been strengthened, encouraging dialogue, scholarship, and mutual understanding. Members of the AUB community have visited Latin America over the decades, engaging with alumni and local communities, while Latin American culture has also been welcomed onto AUB’s campus.
Notable visits from Latin American dignitaries and cultural figures have highlighted the significance of these ties, while student initiatives such as the Latin American Group, known as Miss Latin America, and the vibrant Latin dance activities brought the energy of Latin traditions to campus life. Even the presence of Latin American plants on the AUB campus reflects this spirit of exchange, serving as living symbols of the enduring relationship between the two regions. Together, these initiatives illustrate how AUB continues to bridge cultures, nurturing bonds that transcend geography and uniting communities across continents.
