The Lebanese Civil War forced the Festival to suspend its activities for more than two decades. When performances resumed in 1997, Baalbeck once again welcomed audiences from Lebanon and abroad.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Festival reinvented itself through digital productions, reaffirming the enduring power of culture in times of crisis.
Today, seventy years after its founding, the Baalbeck International Festival continues to embody Lebanon’s commitment to artistic excellence, cultural dialogue, and the preservation of heritage, carrying forward its legacy even when performances are not taking place
