Dabke & Lebanese Dance

Alongside international ballet, Lebanese dance and folk traditions became an important part of the Festival’s cultural program. Through dabke and folkloric performances, traditional movement and music were presented within the monumental setting of Baalbeck and to international audiences. Lebanese dance companies and artists, including Caracalla and Al Anwar, became important contributors to this dialogue between Lebanese tradition and contemporary performance. For Caracalla in particular, Baalbeck became an important platform in the development of its artistic identity and international presence.
