In the basement, there is what looks like an interrupted stairs made of stone, cut by a thick wall, suggesting perhaps the existence of an older structure, or older stairs on location, which may have been superseded by the current basement and stairs of the Main Gate?
A high ceiling, lined with "qutran", beach wood, treated in a special way (soaked in water and then dried up), and then put up on the ceiling to protect the structure from potential fluctuations in temperature, excessive humidity and heat: its dark elegant color, as well as its fragrance must have been a real positive addition.
