Popular Struggle

Arab comics contributed to rooting Arab nationalism(s) in global resistance and liberation movements. During the 50s, 60s and 70s, Arab comics often prominently featured stories of popular resistance, both historic and fictional, against old and new colonizers: the Egyptian countryside resisting the French Campaign; Iraqis and Palestinians resisting British colonialism, etc. In this panel, even Jiha and his wife are presented as having received guerilla training and as standing ready to fend off the enemies, wherever they may be!
